All about my love for the Lord

No white gloves allowed…

on January 21, 2012

I am like my house when guests are coming over….carefully disguised in my outward appearance. When friends come to call I make sure all the visible areas of my home are clutter-free; everything smells pretty and looks shiny. But…if you look close enough at me or my house, you will find dust and mess tucked away. If you took a look in my cupboards you would be crushed by an avalanche of disorder…much like the innermost reaches of my heart. We are full of disorder and chaos on our own. But, there is hope in Jesus. He cleans out the cobweb filled spaces of our human condition. He has replaced our sin with hope in eternal life with the father. Without Jesus we would be left in the ruin of our poor judgment and bad decisions. He has washed us in his blood.

God made the ultimate sacrifice when He sent His one and only son to die for us…for you and me. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice through his act of obedience. He was obedient to the Father…are we? If we are obeying Him then we are revealing to ourselves and others our inherent darkness…the sin that Jesus took from us on the Cross. If we are living in darkness…making ourselves shiny from the outside, we are denying His magnificence; we are fooling ourselves and others, not Him. We are living lives of deception. We are hiding from the Truth. He knows…he knows the darkness that resides in our hearts. His purpose is to pull us out of the mire. He wants us to be washed in His grace and mercy! He desires for our hearts to be cleansed.
“Dear children, let us not love with our words or tongue but with our actions in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.” 1John 4:19-20
Are you willing to come out of the darkness? Bring to light your transgressions? Give Him your dirt and filth. Let Him wash you clean. Ask Him into your heart. When you give your life to Jesus you are born anew, washed in His forgiveness.

“Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise His holy name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul;
and forget not all his benefits-
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever,
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:1-12 NIV
