All about my love for the Lord

Standing trial…

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.  If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to him. But when he asks he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  That man should not receive anything from the Lord, he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.” James 1:2-8

Many of those I love are going through times of trial.  My human inclination is to wish it all away.  My heart’s desire is that no one would have difficulty and heartache.  My desire will be fulfilled in Heaven until then we wait on the Lord.  God is sovereign in all He does and He does not allow more than we can handle into our lives.  He equips us for everything He calls us to endure.  He holds us high above our circumstances in His mighty and gentle hands.

When we face times of trial we are to press into the strength of God.  We are to rely on Him fully to fill us with His endurance and wisdom.  We are foolish to rely on our own strength.  When we rely on ourselves or others to see us through suffering we are consumed by the trial and burdened by the weight of what we carry.  By giving God the glory and thanksgiving for all our circumstances, we acknowledge that He is greatly more capable than we can ever fathom.

It is a challenge to cast our trials on the Lord.  It goes against our flesh to rely on something other than our own (fallen) strength.  For many, the notion of faith without seeing is absurd and unrealistic.  On the contrary!  When we have faith in the power of Christ we are filled with supernatural strength and wisdom.  We are overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit and His ability to carry us through all circumstances.  When we give thanks and praise in every season of our life and when we walk by faith we develop perseverance that will carry us through future trials. (Because trial will come time and time again….we are co-heirs in the suffering of Christ, so to think we will skip through life without trial is a pipedream!) We learn to, with confidence, depend mightily on the power of God’s sovereignty.

Dear Lord,
YOU never stop holding me through every situation.  Thank you that by faith I may trust fully in Your unwavering provision.  Thank you Lord for carrying me and teaching me and loving me fully through all circumstances.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
